Data Tracking at Iveshead School

At Iveshead, we use a transparent data tracking system to ensure every student remains on the path to success. We use different grading terminology depending on your child's Key Stage to provide the most accurate picture of their progress.

Understanding Our Grading Terms

Projected Grades (Key Stage 3): These indicate the GCSE grade your child is currently on track to achieve. Our staff "work backward" from GCSE requirements to determine the standard required at each year group. This ensures the curriculum is appropriately challenging without assessing younger students solely on final GCSE criteria.
Predicted Grades (Key Stage 4 & 5): These are professional forecasts of a student's final exam outcome, calculated using a combination of in-class assessments, Non-Exam Assessments (NEA), and mock exams.
Personal Development: Rather than letter or number grades, we use:
- Developing: Working toward the expected standard.
- Secure: Meeting the expected standard for their year group.
- Exceeding: Working above the expected standard.

Core PE: The "Head, Heart, and Hands" Approach

Physical Education at Iveshead goes beyond athletic ability. We assess students across three distinct domains to provide a holistic view of their development:

Head: Thinking skills, tactics, and evaluation.
Heart: Social interaction, leadership, teamwork, and effort.
Hands: Physical and practical sporting skills.

To prepare students for future qualifications, Core PE uses examination terminology: Entry Pass, Merit, Distinction, and Distinction*. A final grade is an average of all three domains. Please note that on Go4Schools, these grades may fluctuate as new data is added throughout the year.

How We Measure Success

The Minimum Target Grade (MTG)

Every student is assigned a Minimum Target Grade. This is the baseline we expect them to reach or exceed by the end of Key Stage.

How it is set: We use an average of your child's Year 6 SATs scores in English and Maths.
Subject Variation: Because the MTG is based on English and Maths, you may find your child naturally exceeds it in some subjects while working harder to meet it in others.
Natural Fluctuations: Grades may shift depending on the unit being studied (for example, a student may excel in Physics but find Biology more challenging). This is a normal part of the learning journey.

The App: Best for quick "headline" results and daily updates.
The Website: Best for a deep dive. Clicking on a specific subject heading in the breakdown column will show you detailed assessment data.

If you feel your child is not making the expected progress:
